White nassa shell bead choker. Approx. 40cm total length, including the clasp.
No critters were harmed in sourcing these shells, they wash to shore empty and in large numbers. They are then collected and sold.
Here I am using them to make stylish chokers and to help support a charity I believe in: Dolphin Project.
Dolphin Project is a non-profit organisition dedicated to the welfare and protection of dolphins around the world since Earth Day 1970.
I have followed the organisation since watching the Academy Award winning documentary The Cove a few years ago.
$5 from each choker sold will be donated to Dolphin Project to help protect dolphins from captivity and death.
Please note nassa shell beads are delicate and should not be worn during exercise or activities where the necklace is likely to get knocked. The choker style is most suitable due to being out of the way most of the time.
The shells are strung onto quality silver-plated and nylon coated wire thread and finished with a sterling silver clasp.
